The Standard Chartered Literary Festival's Youth Section is coordinated by Paddyfield.com and Hong Kong International Literary Festival Ltd. Now in its second year, the two day Youth Section comprises of special Schools Sessions for school groups as well as events open to the public.

A chance to meet the authors of books you've actually read. This first session will feature Amitav Ghosh (author of The Glass Palace) and Anhua Gao (author of To the Edge of the Sky). Moderated by Nury Vittachi.

Meet the Authors II: Ages: 16+
A second chance to meet the authors of books you've actually read. This second session will feature Hanif Kureishi (author of The Buddha of Suburbia and Gabriel's Gift) and Jake Needham (author of the the thriller Laundry Man). Moderated by Nury Vittachi.

With American poet Arthur Sze. There will be a talk followed by an open workshop.

"Asian culture and literature":
A session for teachers and parents. Three leading authors will discuss such issues as getting teens to read and how to use literature in a cross-cultural environment. With Hong Kong's Annie Wang (author of Lili: A Novel of Tiananmen and Karmel Schreyer (author of the young adult novel Naomi) and Singapore's Hwee Hwee Tan (author of Foreign Bodies. and Mammon, Inc.).

"The Magic of Children's Stories & Poetry": Ages: 0-12
Local children's authors Gavin Coates, Ming Chen and Roseanne Thong will read from their stories and entertain children. We're happy to also be able to present some of the students whose poetry was featured in the The Hong Kong University Moving Poetry project, featured in the book of the same name. Please wear your favourite shoes!

With Brian Dibble. Limited to 20 participants.

"Masks for Writing and Performance":
Drama workshop with Jacob Rajan. Ages: 12-18. Limited to 20 participants. Rajan is one of New Zealand's most promising actors and part of the Indian Ink Theatre Company. In this workshop he will demonstrate his use of mask in performance, discuss the role the masks have in writing the work and illustrate, through some simple exercises and games, some of the principles behind Indian Ink's brand of theatre. Participants of the workshop should wear clothing suitable for movement.
 

The two "Meet the Author" sessions are exclusively for school groups. Interested schools or teachers should contact Ms. Hyun on the contacts given above.
